ED I heard a rumour that Watford have agreed a deal with Andros Townsend, and sadly Ighalo as a swap wasn't even a remote consideration. I suppose that a cash deal for Andros is probably the best for Spurs and the player, and I am sure he will add some class to the Watford attack.

With Fazio likely to be joining Seville as well, I am wondering what January will bring. Berahino seems more likely to move to Newcastle who are able to guarantee a starting berth, and Pato seems to have agreed to join Liverpool.

I know January isn't a great month to typically buy players, but we have never had such a great chance to challenge. Surely we need to buy 3 top quality players if we are to push on. We needed a striker before the window, and we are seemingly selling two players.

Sandro Ramires, Mahrez and Koulou please Mr Levy!

ED It seems Newcastle are serious about staying up as they seem to have Gazumped Watford after the clubs had agreed a price. Surely Andros will now head to Tyneside as they will clearly offer much higher wages.

{Ed025's Note - it seems that way mate..

Alderweireld has just signed for Spurs. I have to say I am pessimistic about the authenticity of this news, but he has apparently coming for sure.

1.) 30 Jun 2015 15:28:20
His loan contract has not finished with southampton yet.

Therefore he cannot sign until tomorrow - I would guess tomorrow will be when we find out but I certainly hope so

2.) 30 Jun 2015 21:16:22
Not happening

3.) 30 Jun 2015 23:36:22
We know he is on loan and returns to Madrid tomorrow on the first day of our transfer window. You will see the news reported imminently about his signed contract.

Watch this space!

4.) 01 Jul 2015 18:44:59
He isn't coming to Spurs

5.) 02 Jul 2015 15:38:11
He's coming. :-D

6.) 02 Jul 2015 21:36:26
To be precise he signed for £7.1m which was the £5.6m buy out clause in his contract with Southampton plus an additional £1.5m in order to release the higher bidder clause.

ED can you confirm if this has happened as I am told it has been completed and Spurs are trying to sell a couple of players before announcing the deal?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

7.) 03 Jul 2015 07:35:15
He hasent signed . More likely to go to Southampton

8.) 04 Jul 2015 09:42:07
I am coming to Spurs . I want to play for them as I feel they can challenge for Champions League. I want to be part of that. I expect to be announced a Spurs player by next weekend. Talks between my current club Atletico and your chairman are holding things up whilst deal is negotiated. Levy I hear is a ruthless business man

9.) 11 Jul 2015 00:32:56
i wrote another comment but wasnt posted. latest I hear at my new club is they would like to sign fernando llorente to take the burden/pressure off harry kane. this is subject to tottenham been able to get him at a bargain price. benteke is definitely not going to happen. simply too expensive likewise my team mate schneiderlin

22 Jun 2015 12:14:58
Tim Sherwood has apparently agreed terms with Andros Townsend. Not sure of the price but Villa have definitely signed him!

ED I was having dinner last night and a gentleman claimed to know everything about our transfer latest. He confirmed that Wimmer was to be a squad player, and that Fazio, Vertonghen would remain the central pairing.

Things got worse when he confirmed the following:

Konoplyanka - Interest but Stoke have offered more assurance and he will shortly sign for them.

Alderweireld - Interest but seemingly Chelsea is his preferred club.

Berahino - WBA priced him out of any deal and won't be going anywhere.

Benteke - Serious interest many weeks ago, but we have dropped discussions.

Jackson Martinez - Serious target but negotiations have gone sour as Arsenal moved in to steal him.

Schneiderlin - Our primary target and Levy is trying hard, but Manchester United will sign him as his agent has already expressed the players desire.

Trippier - Stoke are trying to sign him and promising 1st team exposure. The player prefers Spurs but wants more reassurance that he isn't going to be 4th choice behind Walker, Yedlin or even Dier.

Lavezzi - Remains possible and could happen.

Ayew - Interest and possible

Bolaisse - Really strong interest but many hurdles to overcome.

Ings - Was wanted but Liverpool have apparently signed him to be announced soon.

Benteke - Won't be coming to Spurs as Villa want £30m. Expect him to stay unless we can somehow convince Sherwood to take Adebayor and £15m. Apparently Levy is confident he can broker that deal, but it sounds ambitious to me.

Lloris and Kane will both stay unless a crazy £50m+ deal arrives for either player. Manchester United have apparently agreed to sell De Gea to Real Madrid, but want to find a replacement before they announce that deal. Lloris is wanted but Manchester United won't match the numbers Levy wants and the deal won't happen.

There were many other names mentioned and they included players being touted to leave. Apparently the door is open for Chiriches, Kaboul, Paulinho, Capoue, Stambouli, Holtby, Lennon, Soldado and Adebayor.

I have to say I am disappointed if all this is true. We need a top striker like Jackson Martinez, we need a top winger like Konoplyanka, and we need a world class CDM like Schneiderlin. Wimmer and players like Ayew won't change our fortunes!

Audere Est Facere

1.) 06 Jun 2015 07:42:28
Did he tell you about another couple of interest. Apparently right up the Spurs street, right in the mould:

1) Romanian in mould of Klinsmann - Ivor Vallenova

2) Russian in mould of Mabbutt - Didi Pullmichertov

2.) 10 Jun 2015 16:41:08
Is their 2 Benteke's

Adebayor is a selfish player with absolutely no integrity in my opinion. He has played for money and financial gain, and seemingly has no club loyalty.

This latest rumour if true is the reason the move to Villa is faltering:

The Togo international reckons he should be allowed to commute from his home in London, something which Tim Sherwood isn't keen on!

Seriously a Premiership club want you to join them in the first XI, and you show your appreciation by telling them you aren't prepared to move. I know London has better nightlife Ade, but you are a joker!

Audere Est Facere

1.) 07 Aug 2015 19:11:20
Why should he leave? He's got a big contract and wants to live in London. Enic are the ones that should leave. The Ade problem is tip of the iceberg. Why has Baldini not left?. Why is Andros Townsend still there? Townsend won't do the decent thing and leave, so he is as much a mercenary as Ade is. Another 35 game season because of Levy's penny pinching. Going into the season with one Striker, what a joke. Enic make us a laughing stock. This should be the season when the other 40 or 50% of Spurs fans turn on Levy and its well over due. #ENICOUT.

2.) 07 Aug 2015 20:53:27
No Lucas it's fans like you that make us a laughing stock. So much wrong with your post I wouldn't know where to start. The same things were being said about a striker this time last year, maybe buying loads of luxury footballers isn't always the answer. We will get another striker before season starts no need to overreact.

3.) 07 Aug 2015 22:03:26
What are you on about? It may be frustrating but the club's philosophy is excellent. I spend a reasonable amount of time at the training ground and you can see the Spurs ethos in the way the youth teams play through the age groups compared to the visiting sides. We are building for the future. Never forget what happened to Leeds!

4.) 07 Aug 2015 22:37:00
Anyone with any sense knows that Spurs will buy a striker before the window shuts, but personally i'm just really disappointed we have left it so late AGAIN. We all knew last may that we needed backup for Kane and have still done nothing about it. If Harry gets injured tomorrow we will have no points from as many games as it takes to identify a target, sign him, and give him time to settle in. So while Lucas may be a little misguided I can see his frustrations. Like I said I have no doubt we will sign a striker in the next couple of weeks, but in the mean time let's hope Hugo stays, Kane stays fit, and we stick six past Utd. The last one was a joke!!

5.) 07 Aug 2015 23:16:13
Come on Spurs 1985 you know what I say is true. I admit I was wrong and you were correct about Harry Kane. However my other comments about Levy are bang on and unbiased. You can't really argue with my post, we have one capable striker at the club on the eve of the new season. The transfer policy will mean a 35 game season for us again. Townsend and Baldini still being there. What fan honestly wants these things for the club?

6.) 08 Aug 2015 09:19:14
Lucas what you say is not true. ENIC has been good for the club. Remember the 90's when we flirted with relegation a couple of times? Since 2000 we've never been in that danger, and now 5th is seen as a bad year for us. The club is stable, getting a new stadium, and is rising in profile to increase our commercial income. We have one of the best training facilities in the world. We've spent on players, and the moans that we would not reinvest the Bale money were proven wrong - it's not ENIC's fault that it was spent badly.

We're the 6th richest club in the PL, and we've consistently equalled or bettered that over the last 5 years. We've only finished below that twice in the last 10 years.

Townsend is absolutely not a mercenary. He may not be as good as we
like, and he has this frustrating desire to score from 30 yards, but he is a Tottenham fan and this is his boyhood club. If I were him I would fight for my place as well. Playing for Spurs means more to him than playing for anyone else.

Our defence needed sorting first and that is what has happened. With 58 goals we were the 5th highest scorers last year, commensurate with our position. With 53 goals conceded there were only 4 teams that shipped more than us. Hull let in 51 goals and were relegated. Manchester United in 4th scored 4 more goals than us but conceded 16 fewer. Anyone can see that it was at the back that we needed to focus, and that's exactly what the club has done.

I'm not saying we don't need another striker or a defensive midfielder, but our priority was the defence and that is what has been sorted first.

So yeah we can easily argue with your post.

7.) 08 Aug 2015 09:44:54
I honestly don't think what you say is true. Your making things up as we actually have 3 recognised strikers in our ranks. A team that plays one up front can cope with 3 strikers. As another fan rightly said we have yo abide by contractual law so that explains why those 2 are still there. 'Benefit' from Baldini's contacts for a little longer as we will be paying him either way. Point being how is sacking him and paying him off better than keeping him and getting him to work for his money?
Like another Fan rightly said, it's our defence that needed sorting and that is done.

8.) 08 Aug 2015 11:51:53
I get that Nah i'm not saying to do a Leeds or Pompey but a bit of decent investment is necessary. We get told about the future, that's just an excuse not to spend money. If Kane gets injured tomorrow mwheels the price of any striker we want will go up by 50% and chairmen will happily do a Levy on Levy. Will he spend then? would it be a shock if we end up with what we got at the moment when the window shuts? it's happened lots of times before. Yeah Wulf we are a well run club money wise but that is the Enic business model so when they sell they can make hundreads of millions. Don't believe the likes of Townsend when they start preaching a love for the club and how he is a Spurs boy, he knows this is as good as it gets for him and wants to stay because it's a fashionable club. If he loved the club he would leave quietly and quickly. 1985 I said capable strikers, so i'm not making things up. Yes Toby will be an improvement but a relegated RB and an unknown Austrian, let's not get to excited. Defence is easier to sort anyway, its strikers that cost money hence why in Enics time we've only spent money on Saldado which GB funded, and bringing back Defoe and he was a panic buy. As for Baldini's contacts I think they are a myth unless he still talks to the fella who recommended Chirices. Take the Spurs hat off and make an unbiased assessment.

9.) 08 Aug 2015 17:01:57
My spurs hat is very much off. Maybe listen to your own advice as fans from other teams that I speak with are envious of what ENIC have done for us. Look at the facts don't just listen to ypur own opinion.

28 Jul 2015 11:44:15
I am informed that the Adebayor deal with Villa has been done, and the delay is due to Levy wanting time to complete the Berahino transfer first.

With the rumours surrounding Soldado, Chiriches and Lennon it is looking like the master exodus plan is finally looking like being completed.

With Berahino comes rumours of Veretout, Yannick Bolaise and Yala Bolaise. That would provide the CDM and attacking flair that is missing.

With players like Carrol, Pritchard, De Andre Yedlin, Onomah all pushing for a place, it feels like we have the right balance, pace and energy to finally make a serious top 4 challenge.

I know there is work to still be done, but it is looking highly likely that it will be finalised. My only regret is Pochettino not playing Dembele in the CM role. I think he would bring the class with a holding midfielder like Veretout that we need. Bentaleb and Mason played we'll but must surely be squad players not first choice.

GlK - Lloris / Vorm
LB - Rose / Davies
CB - Vertonghen / Fazio
CB - Alderweireld / Dier
RB - Walker / Trippier
CDM - Veretout / Bentaleb
CM - Dembele / Mason
LM - Berahino / Chadli
CAM - Eriksen / Pritchard
RM - Bolaisse / Lamela
CF - Kane / Austin

Audere Est Facere

1.) 28 Jul 2015 15:50:12
Veretout is more of a box to box type isn't he? Kramer is more the type we want and we have been watching him for a while now.

2.) 28 Jul 2015 15:55:32
BTW the Adebayor deal is nothing to do with Berahino, Adebayor is having a medical tomorrow and if we were to get Berahino it would take a while.

3.) 28 Jul 2015 16:54:45
Looks as though Veretout is going to Villa.

Lamela - Could also go. Which I hope he does.

Javier Hernandez is a key target, and I believe we have already spoken to Manchester United about him as part of a Lloris deal when De Gea joins Real Madrid.

Man Utd are looking at other options like Cech as Levy will probably try for Hernandez, Janusaj + £55m for Lloris.

Audere Est Facere

{Ed002's Note - This is untrue.}

1.) 20 May 2015 14:00:01
Are you for real, that values LLoris at 75m+?

2.) 20 May 2015 14:33:23
The last comment about Hernandez, Januzaj and £55m was a joke about Levy and his price negotiations. I am sorry if the humour was lost on you.

Javier Hernandez as part of a Lloris deal has been discussed though.

He is a greedy player who is poor in the air, doesn't know how to pass and lacks discipline. He can finish when given the chance, but surely not what we need. We need a big powerful Ighalo or Lukaku to capitalise upon all the service into the box that we are consistently providing every game.

They are all in top form, that is exactly the point O was making. Watford, Stoke and Leicester are smaller clubs and so is Everton as things currently stand. We used to sell our best talent like Carrick, Sherringham and Berbatov. Then recent departures like Modric and Bale.

It is all about the players dream, Lukaku might think he has a chance to win the Premiership as would Ighalo and Mahrez or Arnatovic. In addition we are in the Europa knockout stages which will be attractive as well. Mahrez £20m would probably work as they paid so much less, and Lukaku £40m might just tempt Everton. I cannot see any of those players not feeling it was a great career move as they would all start.

What is the worst outcome, we destabilise a couple of clubs who we still have to play.

Imagine having Kane, Lamela, Eriksen, Lukaku, Chadli, Dele Alli and Mahrez to choose from.

Time to think big and stop looking for mediocrity. Mounds Dembele at Fulham looks average in my opinion, but it would be fun to see how confused Merson would be with two Mousa Dembeles on the pitch.

Spurs are serious contenders for the first time in the last 40 years I have supported them. The odds of Spurs lifting the title are the shortest they have ever been, and Levy needs to hammer home the advantage and show the fans we can compete.

If Levy can work his magic with Fazio to Seville for £6m, and somehow plug into Sunderlands desperation by selling them Townsend for £14m we will have £20m to underpin our activity.

We need to show our intention and sign a midfielder like Arnautovic, Mahrez or Barkley. In addition we should forget Berahino and get a Lukaku or Ighalo.

We really need to think like a title challenger and not a Europa League contender. Sandro Ramires from Barcelona B should be a summer acquisition and not a title challenge strategy. We don't need average or even good players when we have the likes of Son, N'Jie, Pritchard, Onomah, Carroll, Mason, Bentaleb, Davies, Wimmer, Vorm, Veljkovic, Trippier, Carter-Vickers and Winks not to mention DeAndre Yedlin who is on loan.

We need world class or top quality Premiership stars if we are to challenge. With £20m from Townsend and Fazio we could buy Mahrez. Then show the fans we mean business and bid £40m for Lukaku which will pay for itself when we get Champions League football.

The issue is much wider than the defence alone. Rose has improved and is beginning to defend, so I give him one more season. Lloris and Vertonghen are world class players, and the latter is frustrated being paired with clowns in central defence. Fazio is far too static and simply unsuited to a high line formation. Diet has impressed me and I would like to see him alongside Vertoghen for a good run of games. We have to also give Walker another chance following injury, and allow DeAndre Yedlin a chance if Walker falters.

So the defence clearly needs change, perhaps step up a level and bring in Alderweireld and Wimmer. However the midfield is the issue. Bentaleb and Mason are simply not dominant enough in the midfield pairing, and this leaves quality midfielders like Cazorla, Sanchez, Hazard, Silva and others able to dictate the pressure on the back four.

Schnerderlin and Dembele would transferfo the side. We all know about the Saints star but our own Dembele is world class himself. He needs a CDM to bring out the best in him.

Chadli has scored and assisted so many from the games he has played that he has to get a place, as does Eriksen who looks too quality. The other RM berth looks empty albeit Lamela finally looked half decent against Hull. I would sign Konoplyanka to give us more options for next season.

Harry Kane is a certainty for a place, but rumours about Hernandez will give us great cover if true.

I hope we hold onto our stars and move into a new level with a few top signings.
