thank god the season is over on sunday then the work begins for poch. its going to be a busy summer at spurs hq the deadwood must be sold at any cost. sell dembele .capuoe and stambouli and bring in schniderlin and sissoko. townsend out with bolasie i, kaboul and chiriches out with alderwerld and richards in. adebayor and soldado out with hernandez and austin in. ithink this will be good enough for us to kick on next season. I would keep lamela as I think he will come good. I also think chadli has been a excellent signing and if we can get kyle walker back to his best we have 2 excellent full backs with danny rose who is improving every year and will end up a top class defender.

{Ed001's Note - I was wondering how you all felt about Baldini finally accepting the blame for all the signings which have failed? For a while the club tried to put the blame on to AVB, even though it was well known that he resisted the signing of a number of the players, in particular Lamela, who he felt was not suited to English football.}

Has Baldini accepted responsibility though, has he said something? I think the fact that half his signings will be sold will make his position untenable and quite right although 99.9% of football fans thought we brought a title challenging team.

Also ed do you still have the same opinion on Rose, you were extremely harsh on him a while ago? He has been our best player for a while along with Kane.

How has Rose been good? Yes he scored a good finish, but he still can't defend at all and that is his job. He is not a full back in a million years, but he is not good enough as a midfielder either. The sad thing is that people will just see the goal and assume it meant he played well when he was posted missing for large portions of the game. He has improved massively, but he is still not even close to good enough for a team aiming to reach the Champions League. It is because you have players like that in your backline that you look so shambolic defensively at times.}

I disagree about Rose. Defensively he has improved alot, ok its from being pathetic to good at defending but a lot of modern fullbacks aren't that great at defending. A lot of teams opt for attack minded fullbacks and their defending isn't as good as their attacking which sounds stupid being a defender but that's the way it is.

He is learning the game and if he carries on improving at this rate he will be extremely good. I wasn't just praising him because of his goal, he has been good with assists and crossing too. Time will tell but I think your being harsh on the lad, imo its our cbs that are shambolic and Walker when he has played coupled with the overated Mason and his inexperience with Bentaleb.

{Ed001's Note - I think your whole backline is at fault, they simply aren't working as a team to make up for their faults. The CBs are being left stranded by the FBs going missing and the midfield is not providing enough protection to compound the problem.}

Ed is this the end for Baldini at Spurs? His credibility must be zero at the club now. What about Levy in all this. Ultimately Levy employed Baldini and let him go on his spending spree. How Danny Rose is still at Spurs is a shocker. And when he is one of your two best players you realise how bad things have got. Take away Harry Kanes goals and it would of been a crisis. That first 11 needs massive money spent on it this summer in all positions. Without FFP rules to worry about there are not any excuses for Levy to give for being cheap. Enic have to spend big and if they don't sell to someone that can.

Hopefully the only dealings Baldini is involved in is using his supposedly considerable connections to get rid of the majority of the players he signed before he leaves.

Dominator , what you say is true , his defending has gone from shambolic to Scottish second division . He is a trier but as Ed says he isn't CL potential but then are we? Once again Levy will sit on his hands until the bargains appear two hours before the window closes . We have the basis of a good team but we need a defensive midfielder , two centre backs as Verts is shot , and help for Kane . We have a lot of crap we need to clear , but without Baldini poking his nose in , we might pick up the players we need . I know that we won't get the best , as I don't want the club in dire financial straights , but there is some good mid price players we could get .
Saying that I would break the bank to get Morgan from Southampton!!

The issue is much wider than the defence alone. Rose has improved and is beginning to defend, so I give him one more season. Lloris and Vertonghen are world class players, and the latter is frustrated being paired with clowns in central defence. Fazio is far too static and simply unsuited to a high line formation. Diet has impressed me and I would like to see him alongside Vertoghen for a good run of games. We have to also give Walker another chance following injury, and allow DeAndre Yedlin a chance if Walker falters.

So the defence clearly needs change, perhaps step up a level and bring in Alderweireld and Wimmer. However the midfield is the issue. Bentaleb and Mason are simply not dominant enough in the midfield pairing, and this leaves quality midfielders like Cazorla, Sanchez, Hazard, Silva and others able to dictate the pressure on the back four.

Schnerderlin and Dembele would transferfo the side. We all know about the Saints star but our own Dembele is world class himself. He needs a CDM to bring out the best in him.

Chadli has scored and assisted so many from the games he has played that he has to get a place, as does Eriksen who looks too quality. The other RM berth looks empty albeit Lamela finally looked half decent against Hull. I would sign Konoplyanka to give us more options for next season.

Harry Kane is a certainty for a place, but rumours about Hernandez will give us great cover if true.

I hope we hold onto our stars and move into a new level with a few top signings.

Which makes the decision to loan Lennon out interesting. Lennon in front of Walker made our right side pretty solid when they were both fit because Lennon would support Walker defensively. Lamela is beginning to show a hint of understanding of this need, but Chadli has not. Attacking our defense wide or balls over the middle when the CB's are stretched because no one drops back has been an obvious tactic against us. Couple that with countless player errors and you get 50+ goals conceded.

Why would Morgan Schneiderlin consider moving to a team that cannot get to the champions league .
He has stated that he will only leave Southampton for CL football .
Therefore Arsenal is his probable destination otherwise it will be a sideways step and not ambitious at all!
