I see West Brom are looking at Townsend maybe a possible swap with Berahino + £5m or a little bit more.

My only worry with berahino is his attitude and will it upset the team morale.

You say that Ryan, but in all fairness when a bigger club comes in for you and the move gets stopped for whatever reason it must make you a little P'd off. He was a good player to be put in the shop window in the 1st place so his attitude was spot on.

{Ed001's Note - actually it was already the only reason he was at West Brom in the first place. Berahino was known to have a suspect attitude, which had meant other bigger clubs passed over him when he was younger. If I was Spurs, I would look elsewhere, he will fade quickly and be one who never reaches the level he should, in my opinion.}

He's only 22 though isn't he. I feel he'd be worth a punt, it's a little different when your at a bigger club. He'll have to knuckle down and toe the line. But that's only my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - only time will tell, but he is very up his own backside with a tendency to sulk rather than try. Not qualities that tend to lead to success at bigger clubs.}

Roger that Ed001 - who else is possibly on the Spurs radar?

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect much to happen other than trying to add a forward. Morata was the other name I heard in the frame, as he is unhappy at being kept out of the Juve team. How realistic that is, or whether it would be a permanent or loan move, I have no idea. Just told that he was the main target due to his current unhappiness and the difficulty of dealing with West Brom.}

I was hoping you was going to say a forward and a creative midfielder I think Eriksen needs a little competition.

{Ed001's Note - January is not a good time to buy mate.}

Suarez, Sturridge, Evra, Berbatov, I see your point Ed001 only banter mate.

{Ed001's Note - good point mate, good point. There clearly are good signings out there.}

Morata is quality, yes please.

Sandra Ramirez and Moussa Dembele could be possible aswell.

How good could Berahino be ed? I've always thought he looks good but nothing special.

{Ed001's Note - I am with you on that, I do not see anything special about him at all.}

I agree, I'd be far more interested in bojan or even patrick bamford - giving young english players a shot has worked for us so far.

Spurs are serious contenders for the first time in the last 40 years I have supported them. The odds of Spurs lifting the title are the shortest they have ever been, and Levy needs to hammer home the advantage and show the fans we can compete.

If Levy can work his magic with Fazio to Seville for £6m, and somehow plug into Sunderlands desperation by selling them Townsend for £14m we will have £20m to underpin our activity.

We need to show our intention and sign a midfielder like Arnautovic, Mahrez or Barkley. In addition we should forget Berahino and get a Lukaku or Ighalo.

We really need to think like a title challenger and not a Europa League contender. Sandro Ramires from Barcelona B should be a summer acquisition and not a title challenge strategy. We don't need average or even good players when we have the likes of Son, N'Jie, Pritchard, Onomah, Carroll, Mason, Bentaleb, Davies, Wimmer, Vorm, Veljkovic, Trippier, Carter-Vickers and Winks not to mention DeAndre Yedlin who is on loan.

We need world class or top quality Premiership stars if we are to challenge. With £20m from Townsend and Fazio we could buy Mahrez. Then show the fans we mean business and bid £40m for Lukaku which will pay for itself when we get Champions League football.

Mahrez could be possible I reckon especially as one of our scouts Rob Mackenzie was the one who got him in the first place when he was at Leicester but Lukaku would be unbelievably hard, Everton just wouldn't sell imo.

Is there any reason to believe Leicester would sell in January? Mahrez on current form would be a big addition to the squad.

Eriksen needs to be upgraded if we are to push on - either in January or the summer.

All the players mentioned are in the form of their lives at this present time which will make it vertiually impossible to sign anyone of them. imo. The smaller or lesser clubs don't need the money at this point, staying in the premiership is worth more than selling one of their best players.

13.) 30 Dec 2015
30 Dec 2015 20:41:15
I don't think either are possible tbh. As West Brom showed the smaller clubs have enough money to turn down big bids. As I put on another post I reckon Moussa Dembele of Fulham is the most likely, which isn't ideal as a straight replacement for Kane but the lad is very talented and probably better than Berahino.

They are all in top form, that is exactly the point O was making. Watford, Stoke and Leicester are smaller clubs and so is Everton as things currently stand. We used to sell our best talent like Carrick, Sherringham and Berbatov. Then recent departures like Modric and Bale.

It is all about the players dream, Lukaku might think he has a chance to win the Premiership as would Ighalo and Mahrez or Arnatovic. In addition we are in the Europa knockout stages which will be attractive as well. Mahrez £20m would probably work as they paid so much less, and Lukaku £40m might just tempt Everton. I cannot see any of those players not feeling it was a great career move as they would all start.

What is the worst outcome, we destabilise a couple of clubs who we still have to play.

Imagine having Kane, Lamela, Eriksen, Lukaku, Chadli, Dele Alli and Mahrez to choose from.

Time to think big and stop looking for mediocrity. Mounds Dembele at Fulham looks average in my opinion, but it would be fun to see how confused Merson would be with two Mousa Dembeles on the pitch.

You have to take into account that it was Real Madrid and Manchester United coming in for our players, teams that are agrguably the 2 biggest in the world, a little different than Spurs pulling power.

If we're going on form we may aswell bid for Deulofeu and Vardy

I love your thinking Audere but can't see any these happening really.

{Ed001's Note - it is also forgetting that Leicester have owners with plenty of money and are looking to invest in order to secure long term European football. They are looking to buy, not sell. It would not be easy to buy any of their better players just now.}

16.) 31 Dec 2015

What about 'player power' ed? As we saw with Wba and Berahino though it didn't work, has all the Tv money changed it so the players can't just hand in a transfer request making a move a formality because the club don't want an unhappy player? It backfired for Jeremy Peace I think ad Berahino's value is plummeting.

{Ed001's Note - the difference is that WBA are a poor team going nowhere, whereas Leicester are going somewhere. The players are happy and loving being there right now. Summer would be a better time to consider their players, other than fringe ones who want first team football.}
